Maria Loi is a former Public Affairs Specialist and Lobbyist; she has successfully undertaken projects for multinational conglomerates like Texaco, Nokia, the ITT Sheraton and Net-Hold International. Her innovative spirit and strong desire to explore new frontiers pushed Maria to move past her lobbying career in pursuit of her true passion, cooking.
Author of multiple cookbooks, including the official cookbook for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, and her most recent book, The Greek Diet (Oct. 2014, HarperCollins), Maria is known to be the authority on Greek cuisine around the world. In March 2012, she was invited to cook for President Obama, VP Biden, and 250 guests at the White House.
Maria was invited as one of America's top 6 female chefs by Fortune Magazine and the James Beard Foundation to the 2014 Fortune: The Most Powerful Women Summit. Her restaurant, Loi, was a media favorite on NYC's Upper West Side from 2011-June 2014.
Now, she has brought her unique approach to Greek cuisine to Loi Estiatorio, her restaurant in the heart of Manhattan. She has partnered with Hampton Forge to create Loi by Hampton Forge, her line of cookware and tabletop products, which debuted at the Chicago Housewares Show in March 2015. She just launched her wonderful new line of Loi Pasta. January 2016, she was the inaugural chef of The Ritz-Carlton CPS's Kitchen-Takeover series, which opened to rave reviews.
Maria is also heavily involved in philanthropic causes, as one of the core founders of Elpida, a foundation for children with cancer. She is also involved in fundraising for multiple causes such as Volunteers of America, C-CAP, and the Center for Discovery.
